PART 1 - 絶対敵対メチャキライヤー/Unfriendly Hater

“No matter how many times I say it, he’ll never listen!” Mey vented in frustration as he walked down the hallway with his friend. Teru gave him a reassuring smile. “He doesn’t listen to anyone, Mey-chan. It’s not just you.”

“I guess you’re right…” Mey muttered, still annoyed. “But still—” He was cut off by the sharp sound of the bell ringing.

“Oh! Sorry, Mey-chan! I’ve gotta get to class. Good luck, mister hall monitor!” Teru slung his bag over his shoulder and dashed off, leaving Mey standing there. As he watched his friend disappear into the crowd, he sighed. Most students were well-behaved, but there was one in particular who always managed to get under his skin.

“Oi, Mey-chan!” a voice called from the far end of the hallway, and a student came running toward him. “I was eating breakfast—let me slide this time, ‘kay?”

Mey spun around, frowning. “No! You should’ve eaten faster. You’re late to class. I’ll write you a—”

But Gero ignored him, dashing past without slowing down. “Gero-san! Stop running!” Mey shouted after him.

Gero groaned in frustration. “Ugh, why won’t you just shut up? I’m in a hurry. What’s your deal, anyway? No one else is around, so it’s fine.” He waved Mey off, hoping he’d just go away.

“Wait, wait! Hold on!” Mey said, grabbing Gero by the strap of his bookbag. “I’m telling you to stop flouting the rules!”

Gero rolled his eyes and turned to face him. “Ahh, right, right, I get it now. Not that I’m actually gonna listen,” he added with a smirk, shrugging casually.

Mey shot him a glare, unwavering.

"Seriously, I really hate you..." Mey muttered under his breath.

"Oh, did I piss you off? Serves you right!" Gero shot back with a grin.

Mey scoffed. "No, I'm definitely way better than you." The two locked eyes, somehow turning their argument into another unspoken competition.

“You get all worked up over a few little rules. You’re so damn persistent!” Gero snapped.

Mey finally let go of his grip on his bookbag and shot back, “Shut up! Your shirt’s hanging out, and your tie’s all loose. Fix it. I’d love to see the look on your parents' faces if they saw you like this.”

“It’s not like they care.” Gero whispered in an annoyed tone.

Mey hesitated. “Gero-san, that’s not true—”

“Shut up!” Gero cut him off, his voice sharp. “Say that again, and I won’t forgive you. You’ve met them—you know they don’t care about me.” He crossed his arms, his expression hardening.

Mey stepped closer, his gaze softening.

“You’re the only one who actually pays attention to me," Gero snapped, his voice suddenly raw. "Even the teachers have given up on me, Mey-chan. Do you know what that feels like? To watch everyone else get praised and loved for being smart and caring, while you’re just... forgotten?”

Mey stood frozen for a moment, unsure how to respond. He muttered under his breath, then, without thinking, stepped closer and reached for Gero’s loose tie, adjusting it with a practiced hand. “Maybe they'd care more if you took better care of yourself,” he said quietly.

Gero stiffened, eyes widening as he stared at Mey. “You don’t... know that,” he muttered, his voice low. Gero tried to ignore the fact that Mey was so close to him. “What’s the matter, smarty? Finally admitting defeat?”

Mey glared up at him and took a step back. “No. Go to class. At least you won’t get in nearly as much trouble for improper attire.”

“Eh. I was gonna skip anyway.” Gero admitted.

Mey pinched the bridge of his nose. “You are unbelievable.”

“Thank you, your highness,” Gero replied and loosened his tie again. “Gero-san! I just fixed that—”

Gero chuckled and seized Mey’s wrist, pulling him down the hallway. "Wait! What are you doing?!" Mey shouted, struggling to break free.

"Relax, you don’t have class this period anyway," Gero said, flashing a grin as he loosened his grip. "Chill out, man."

Mey hesitated, then, with a reluctant breath, followed him down the hall. Gero’s grin widened as his fingers slid from Mey’s wrist to his hand. To his surprise, Mey didn’t pull away. Instead, he simply held on.
